CONFIRMATION GROUP The course runs between January and June. It prepares young people for the Sacrament of Confirmation. The course involves basic instruction on the Sacraments, history of the Church, current moral issues, prayer and the Bible. The children meet every Wednesday for an hour. They are encouraged to discuss openly and build up a file of their studies. Part of the course also includes a weekend retreat to St Vincent’s Catholic Youth Centre in Whitstable. The retreat runs from Friday evening until after lunch on Sunday. It is a weekend, of prayer, reflection, worship and recreation and includes the Sacrament of Reconciliation on the Saturday evening finishing with Sunday Mass then lunch. The children are always enthusiastic about the course and the retreat. There is a celebration buffet following the Confirmation evening. Contact : Maurice Lewis — Catechist

Children's Liturgy Group The name ‘Children’s Liturgy’ is a shortened form of ‘Children’s Liturgy of the Word’ which describes what we do much better than ‘Sunday School’ and again is better than ‘Crèche’. It is not aimed to take children out of the way because they get fidgety in church, nor is it to replace RE lessons. What the children do in ‘Liturgy’ is to celebrate God’s Word, the first part of the Mass, in a way that is parallel to what is happening in church; to introduce them to god’s love for us.
9.30 a.m. Mass Choir The present Sister in Charge is Sister Marguerite, who has had a very active ministry as head mistress of a primary school on the Isle of White, sister in Charge of Spring Hill, before transferring to Sittingbourne. The Sisters still take an active role in parish life, in the choir, visiting the sick and housebound, parish council, and take part in and enjoy the social events of the parish.

The St Vincent de Paul Society (“SVP”) The St Vincent de Paul Society (“SVP”) is an international Christian voluntary organization dedicated to tackling poverty and disadvantage by providing direct practical assistance to anyone in need. Active in England & Wales since 1844, today it continues to address social and material need in all its many forms. "Where would we be without the SVP? More than 10,000 volunteers visit and befriend the lonely, give vital material assistance to the destitute, advise the poor on debt, and provide holidays for children who would otherwise have none. Their compassionate action reveals Christ in the prisoners, the homeless and the lonely, and thereby offers inspiration to us all. On behalf of the countless people to whom the SVP has brought hope, I thank you all."
Due to your continued contributions to the
SVP Red Box we were again able to buy approximately 50 small
presents before Christmas. Whilst they are small gifts they
are always well received. In addition food vouchers are
given to those in need and this includes ‘The Quays’ in
Crown Quay Lane. Biscuits are taken to the Memorial
Hospital. Our other charity work continues through the
year. Thank you for your financial support. UNION OF CATHOLIC MOTHERS An invitation to the ladies of the Parish to come and join the Union of Catholic Mothers.
